The moment to do the baggage is
coming. At this time the problem is: how to go
back to home with this huge
telescope without to damage it? Unfortunately
the response is: The totality of the flight is not under
my control. Of course my three boxes will flight in the
baggage room. To avoid to damage the scope it's very important
to make a strongly packaging. To do that, here after some
best practise:
- make sure the mirror is blocked
- choose a millboard, at least twice of the standard cardboard
- make room between the telescope and the millboard
- wedge the telescope with some blocks of polystyrene
This conclusion can be view in two
ways
- if your goal is to save money, it's
the right way but you must considering the rate between
the EUR and the US Dollar. In my case I save more
than 50% of the French price, that's huge !
However you must organize your trip in the fine
detail.
- If your goal is to purchase a product with the maximum
security and a local warranty, forget this way.
You must keep in mind the following things:
- Purchase a Meade product directly from USA cause the
loose of the warranty
- In case of problem with the telescope it will be shipping
at your charge to the Meade dealer
-You travel with the telescope at your own risk and
you will take a special insurance
-You must pay attention that's the telescope will be
available at your arrival
- Plan to stay enough days near the Meade dealer in
case of problem
- You must contact your custom to know the cost of the
tax in your country
To conclude this king of trip can
become expensive if you don't pay attention at each
detail and will a very interesting deal if you are (very)
meticulous. Take care and have fun.
